I want to make a flame come out from one of my flamers. I was thinking about using cotton but that is more of a smoke look. Any ideas?

the first thing that comes to my mind is green stuff with a paper clip center so it can be attached to the Flamer

Flamethrowers are tricky because it's not the short licking flames that would be fun and easy to model but the big whoooooosh of fire. An idea would be to go on sites like www.cardagora.com and look at the models for heroclix, D&D minis, and Star Wars minis. Find something with a nice flame effect (I know there have been Human Torch, Pyro, and Jango Fett variants with nice clear plastic 'jet of flame' effects) If they're going for less than a couple bucks, pick one up and chop it, or if it's out of stock or they're asking too much, see if you can get one cheap on e-bay.

Evan, talk to sean about it. For his tournament display table he had a bunch of flames enveloping tyranids... looked great!

I would also recomend using craft paper, just like I do for my banners. the process is easy and the result is very light and manageable.

How do you think clay would work? It's just like green stuff. the only problem i can see is that after it is sent through the kilm it gets cracked and stuff.

if you are considering using clay... better use green stuff instead. it will not crack and it is easier to handle, i think

I don't think clay is a good idea, at least not for the fire project, Clay is really fragil once it is dry and it is best for places that are not going to be that "movable" like bases or terrain
