- “Sturmbannführer, Sie kommen!” - “Sehr gut, Who is up front?” - “Hauptscharführer Brüken, he has a Grenadiers detachment supporting his Panthers” - “Gut, dispatch the support units now” Mission: Hold the Line Defender: 26th Panzerdivision Attacker: 21st British Tank Brigade The main British attack advanced on the right flank, supported by Infantry; once they were on range the Panther Tanks moved in to engage. On the left flank the assault was light but it pined the infantry support, which had to hold in place to anchor the Panther tank’s flank, their position was reinforced by the HQ tanks, all of this while the British AOP guided the artillery. After a failed initial shooting on the Axis side, the two Churchill Tank platoons kept advancing using the woods as cover on all fronts The Battle continue with exchange of fire, the Panther Tanks were able to destroyed some Churchill tanks on the right flank, but the CO’s tank bogged down and got assaulted by the British infantry on the center line First reserves arrived and moved to reinforce the left flank and push back the British assault for the main objective, but they couldn’t get on time to support the Grenadiers assault who were routed Once the Churchills were neutralized the tanks moved to stop the Infantry spearheading the attack, this push the British forces on high casualties count and without the CO to rally them they decided to retreat.
