wow!
I’m really looking forward to see your army on the table for a game, never been personally on a BFS tournament but I’m guessing you should be high up on the best painted rank
Is the pink color just an effect on the picture or you actually intended to make look like that?

It doesn't look so link in person but yes, I intended it like that.

I am down to 4 models to highlight. All are sergeants so will take some time. I then need to do all the eyes and finish the terrain and paint the building. I've gone with a more NMM for the power sword instead of my lightning effect. Very pleased with the outcome.

I definitely need to come spend a day with you so you can teach me how to paint NMM like that. That looks great!

Looking great man - that sword is just beautiful! How's the display base coming along?

The display base is almost done. I spent most of my hobbytime today working on it. Mostly marking the spots the models will fit in, sanding the base of the building and flocking and foliaging. Still need to moss up the edges and dump off the excess.

There's no grass in space. C-
Everything is looking great so far... will you have time to battle damage the Terminators at all? I think it could be a cool way to break up some of the big patches of bone-armor; but we're all getting down to the wire. The building will look great with that patina effect too. I'm excited to see this all in person, when it's completed.
I have no idea how you guys with real jobs manage this painting stuff, I've been logging 4-6 hours a day for the past week pushing to get Khador stuff done for next week, and I'll still be down to the wire.

Okay, I just finished Belial. Took me nearly 8 hours of highlighting! And he only looks marginally better than the "rank and file" terminators. Anywho really pleased with him, and since he is front and center on the display board that is a good thing. I did a more involved (more transitions) on his NMM sword. I also made it a little greenish to separate it from the other power swords. Hope you likey. To give you an idea to the depth of my crazy there are 4-5 highlights on each feather on his headdress. That means I painted each feather, one a time, 4 to five times. I'm not sure when I lost my mind but it clearly has happened.

One of the final updates! We are in the home stretch! So where am I at? I've finished all the highlights. I've done all the battle damage. I've done a number of small touch ups. What's left. I need to do all the eyes. That will likely be tomorrow and I have to do most of the painting on the building. I'm going to make it but not with a lot of time to spare. Here is a power sword party picture pre battle damage. Enjoy. How is everyone else coming along?

I love that your "stage 4 out of 18" is my "done". These guys look terrific. Is the effect on the sword mostly layering? like water colors? or something else.
also, the highlighting, I get the first layer, but does it pay to do it in multiple stages or does the effect become disjointed? you have a much steadier brush and more patience than I seem to have, but the results are always impressive.

The swords effect is layering. I pick alternating and opposite places to be white and black. It's then a matter of enough layers/transitions to make it look seamless. Yup, that simple. As for the highlighting, yes the more stages the better. Each stage gets lighter and smaller. The more steps the more seamless the blending. Does that answer the question?

Finished the eyes this morning. This gives me about 6-8 hours to finish the building. I should be good! Here are some army shots on the display board. Keep in mind that building has some work left ;D The Rock! That Obliterator doesn't stand much of a chance.
