I think I could try and get a doom diver or rock lobber in the list, if I cut of a few guy here and there it will then help me kill some of those units that would sweep my goblins. maybe get 2 doom divers and maybe a rocklobber?

War machines are nice, they let you deal with things before combat. Although with all the night goblin units with fanatics you could more or less count those as war machines, especially the unit with 21 models.

I agree with Tim. If you start stripping off models from the units who's job it is to die or kill things, then you've got fewer models to keep you in the fight once it happens. Moreover, those Warmachines are prone to blowing up, and also will require you to dedicate (limited) resources to protecting them. That's one of the things I like about the Flinger (and Tim's Thundertusk)....it has the advantage of giving you a potent "warmachine" while maintaining mobility and it protects itself from the things typically used to go hunt warmachines (small fast cav or flier units). Of course, that's theory-hammer, as I have no warmachines...or even anything that shoots for that matter.
