The whole spirit of the escalation league is to promote and help people to get into Warmachine/Hordes game and in that way make it another fun and big part of the club.
With this in mind, let’s keep named Characters as an option for Round 3 and give a real chance to new people to understand the game.

Since when are characters in general overpowered or unfair?
If you want to keep Character jacks and beasts out of it until 35 pts, I'm fine with that. But not characters in general.

Round 3 is only the third week -- the character restriction only lasts for the first two weeks of 15 point games, which isn't all that bad. The only characters posted so far are Gallant, Eiryss, and Harlan Versh... whitestar was the one who originally brought character restrictions up (even if only referencing jacks), so I don't think he'll be heartbroken about not having them for the 15 point games. The other two characters are mercs, and personally I think that detracts from the spirit of a 15 point league. If the club wants to run it as more of an introduction league, it makes sense to stick with in faction models for the first two weeks of 15 points. Which new player is going to reach for a mercenary over his brand new starting faction when he's just starting out? I mean, I can get behind the zero restrictions thing. But I don't think prohibiting all characters until 25 points is ridiculous, especially with the posted intent of the league. Rod may have merely misspoke too and meant character jacks/warbeasts, and not normal dudes... could just be a misunderstanding

It really doesn't bother me if characters are restricted at 15. It would actually make my army much better to replace Eiryss with other options. I only chose her since it's been over 3 years since I used her, and thought it would be a nice change of pace.
However, I just think it's important for everyone to realize that characters are not generally a huge and powerful part of your army. Other than Warcasters and Warlocks, characters in Warmachine/Hordes aren't anywhere near the same level of effect on the game as they are in 40k and WHF.
Restricting them with the aim to make things more inviting or friendly is completely unnecessary.
Certain models like Molik Karn, Beast 09, the Avatar of Menoth could be argued that they would have a major effect on small games. But their expense makes the rest of the army minimal. And everything is easy to kill in this game if you can concentrate on it and ignore the rest.

My mistake, just as sionnach19 mentioned above, character jacks/warbeasts are allowed until Round 3

I'm in with Trollbloods, eDoomy and Borka. My schedule is very random these days so I'll do my best to schedule some games but they will likely be on days other than Mon, Fri and Sat. Mulg smash!

I'm in, though most of my games will probably be on vassal. I'm going to run eDeneghra and... Witch Coven. I figure a build-up league like this is good practice for them.

First of all I want to thank everybody, I sure had a great time and really hope everybody else also have, congrats to all of you that took this chance to start with the Warmachine/Hordes universe or simply make their armies grow bigger.
I really hope this League have provided a little incentive to all club members to make new friends and find new game peers.
This event thrown some interesting numbers, first it seems that Vassal it’s a very popular way to game, 13 games out of 38 were played on it, however the most popular place seems to be Bobby’s and Mike’s place with 17 games, in the other hand only 7 games were played at our Club room and 1 during camping. Only four participants played at the club room, Bobby (hivemindbob) played 1 time, Ian (lanceradvanced) 2 times, Sean (sean) 5 times and Matt (whitestar333) 6 times, so the additional 2 points go to Matt for more games played at the Club Room.
Three of the participants took this opportunity to move their brushes and score some Hobby points, Ian score 3 points with his Hogs, Matt also did a nice work with his Cygnar also scoring 3 points, which by the way he started from scratch for the league, and last but not least Sean continue adding to his Menoth collection and scored 5 points.
And finally let’s go over the gaming results, starting with the Fourth Place, Mike played as many games as the first place participant, even had the same effectiveness of 85% but missed to score any Hobby points and didn’t submit any game on the last round and all of this kept him away from the top-three; Bobby put on a good fight and played very hard to get points (mostly out of Stephen) throughout almost the whole league, but lost some steam at the last round, he scored the same points as the second place but his effectiveness of 60% got him down to a very honorable Third Place; Brian came from behind and started to jump up places on the second half of the League, he even beat the league leader which at the end was enough to tie Bobby in points and with an effectiveness of 80% reach the Second Place in the last round; I made the mistake of challenge Sean when the League started, he was the last to join so he was at the end of the participants list, when he asked me to put him on top I answered that he had to earn it and so he did, he won almost every game he played and got himself on top of the list from the very beginning, well done Sean!
Here the whole list of participants.
Sean . . . . 28 points . . . . 9 games Brian . . . . 24 points . . . . 10 games Bobby . . . . 24 points . . . . 14 games Mike . . . . 22 points . . . . 9 games Matt . . . . 13 points . . . . 6 games Stephen . . . . 10 points . . . . 12 games Tom . . . . 9 points . . . . 6 games John . . . . 3 points . . . . 3 games Evan . . . . 1 points . . . . 3 games Ian . . . . 0 points . . . . 2 games Jason . . . . -3 points . . . . 2 games Tim . . . . -6 points . . . . 0 games
