Still using Stalin quotes for my thread titles
I figured I should plan out my 35 point forces a little more, and try to narrow down which warcasters/forces I want to use (though I realize I have the stuff to make a 50 point list... might consider getting some experience at that level). Wanted to see what people thought of various warcasters/lists! Usual wall of text warning.

Vladimir Tzepesci, the Dark Champion (*5pts)
* Marauder (7pts)
* War dog (1pts)
Doom Reavers (Leader and 5 Grunts) (6pts)
Kayazy Assassins (Leader and 9 Grunts) (8pts)
* Kayazy Assassin Underboss (2pts)
Widowmakers (Leader and 3 Grunts) (4pts)
Eiryss, Angel of Retribution (3pts)
Man-o-war Drakhun (with dismount) (5pts)
Manhunter (2pts)
Saxon Orrik (2pts)
I love Vlad's model and fluff, but I'll admit it took me a long time to warm up to his epic incarnation. But I've been playtesting it out a lot recently, and had a lot of good experiences with it. He has a really cool feat, cool abilities, and a sweet spell list. I would have a hard time running him as a primary caster, or even as a secondary caster in a two list tournament -- being solely infantry, and entirely assault based, he has a few really tough match ups. Main point of this list is to get into position to alpha strike with Vlad's feat, using Doom Reavers and Kayazy (or the MH and Drakhun, though I need more practical experience with them). Eiryss and Widowmakers provide some solid covering fire, and Sax Orrik is there to hand out pathfinder (which my assault units desperately need!). The Marauder is there to use Assail, and really just take up 'jack points... I have no reservations using it to bait charges, tie things up, or just block LoS for Vlad. This is an infantry machine list at its finest.

Kommandant Irusk (*6pts)
* Black Ivan (10pts)
* Sylys Wyshnalyrr, the Seeker (2pts)
Great Bears of Gallowswood (5pts)
Kayazy Assassins (Leader and 9 Grunts) (8pts)
* Kayazy Assassin Underboss (2pts)
Lady Aiyana & Master Holt (4pts)
Winter Guard Infantry (Leader and 9 Grunts) (6pts)
* Winter Guard Infantry Officer & Standard (2pts)
Kovnik Jozef Grigorovich (2pts)
pIrusk is my favorite Khador caster, and imo probably the most competitive. He has a phenomenal spell list, and plays a really mean scenario game -- Inhospitable Ground is spammable denial against lists without pathfinder, and his feat is perfect for rushing everything up and jamming. Battle Lust gives any of my infantry a shot at wrecking heavies (Great Bears are my main tool for that, though Kayazy can help in a pinch), Iron Flesh makes Winterguard impossible to hit. Aiyanna and Holt are there to hand out magical weapons, and harm stuff if I need some help against high armor targets. I usually run Behemoth with Irusk, but want to try out Black Ivan -- he lets me sneak Aiyanna and Holt in which is really important, and he's def 14 with superiority... a def14 Khador 'jack with dodge is terrifying! I contemplate swapping the WG blob for Iron Fang Pikemen... gives me some more armor, which means autohit stuff isn't such a painful counter, and frees up WG for another list (Joe is by far the guy I miss the most with character restrictions). But, that's a pretty expensive $$$-wise infantry unit. I'll have to bit the bullet eventually! This is probably my "primary" list, and the one I feel most comfortable with -- I don't think it creates any poor match-ups, and has a great tool box.

The Butcher of Khardov (*6pts)
* Behemoth (13pts)
* Destroyer (9pts)
* War dog (1pts)
Kayazy Assassins (Leader and 9 Grunts) (8pts)
* Kayazy Assassin Underboss (2pts)
Widowmakers (Leader and 3 Grunts) (4pts)
Man-o-war Drakhun (without dismount) (4pts)
Both Irusk and Vlad are running infantry machine, so I've been trying to find an alternate list that doesn't really on so many squishy little guys... the meta seems to be shifting away from that, so I'm trying to find something that pairs up with Irusk well (in addition, a list that runs better under time constraints). Enter the Butcher! Originally I wanted to run more of a gunline with him, but had a hard time fitting the WGI in without Joe (or Aiyanna and Holt, who I like pairing with them). I think this works well -- Kayazy benefit from iron flesh and battle lust equally. Widowmakers are great for thinning infantry/targeting support models. Behemoth and the Destroyer lay down a withering amount of firepower, made all the more terrifying under feat turn, and the Drakhun functions effectively as a light warjack. This list is more effective against Hordes I think, who tend to run more beast heavy, but can handle itself pretty well against anything. Has a few weaknesses I'm not sure how to sort out (Stealth, lack of magic weapons outside of Butcher is a big one, struggling to hit higher defense models...). I think the real trick of this list is how much armor it puts on the table -- Behemoth, the Destroyer, and the Drakhun are all pretty heavy targets to take out. I'm hoping it forces my opponent's hand with his anti-armor pieces, so I can destroy them... when the smoke finally clears for the end game, the enemy has expended all of his heavy hitters to wreck my 'jacks and doesn't have a way to tackle a defense 17/19 armor 23 Butcher carving his way across the table!

eSorscha is another caster that I have a lot of experience with, though I haven't used her lately... her and Butcher fill a very similar roll in my mind, with similar feats. eSorscha has a more versatile spell list with extra tools that Butcher lacks (a speed buff!), a warjack bond, and special synergy with the Winterguard. eSorscha has a lot of assassination potential on her own (a 19" nonlinear melee threat range is pretty beefy!), but not always the hitting power to seal the deal. Butcher is more of a straight up tank by himself, which has its own obvious benefits, but can't deny that his force is slow. I'm trying to get more experience with Butcher to see if I like his playstyle over eSorscha (though Sorscha seems to be the more competitive option, according to the internets). Besides, I can only put the WG+Joe in one list and pIrusk has that honor currently. If I had to make a mock up list it would look something like this:
Forward Kommander Sorscha (*6pts)
* Behemoth (13pts)
* Kodiak (8pts)
Doom Reavers (Leader and 5 Grunts) (6pts)
Widowmakers (Leader and 3 Grunts) (4pts)
Winter Guard Infantry (Leader and 9 Grunts) (6pts)
* Winter Guard Infantry Officer & Standard (2pts)
Kovnik Jozef Grigorovich (2pts)

Sorry if this came across as a little ramble-y, but all the WM/H interest has me hoping that I can generate more discussion on my lists this time. It's also a welcome break from writing about the development of Gregorian Chant into 18th century Bach cantatas!
