Lorenz is a flash application that allows playing games via the internet. There is a one-time fee (I believe it was 5 Euro) that can be paid via Paypal (in italian...good luck!) The system is not as robust or well-maintained as Vassal, but it works very well. You can log in for free as Test (password Test) and goof around for 5 minutes at a time if you want to see if it's worth spending a few bucks on. I highly recommend it! lwhfb.lorenzonuvoletta.com/(Eric, please sticky?)

I highly recommend this system, Bob was great and hooked me up with an account around Christmas. It's been a fantastic way for me to try out new list combinations and have Bob beat up on me and really show me the ropes with Fantasy. I wouldn't be half the player I am without him helping me and teaching me all the rules (and more importantly putting up with my late night stupidity! ) But yeah, if you're a Fantasy player this is a great way to get some games in and practice with models you don't necessarily have the models for.

I tried the test, it was very difficult but I think you would get better at as you move along with it

Agree, mikey...it's not intuitive and no instructions to tell you what's what. If anybody wants a crash course in the Lorenz interface, let me know and I'll try to get on with you and talk you thru the controls!

I may need to do that during my trip if I am to get any battles done. So far... I have kept clear of melee.. but I may need to get into Lorenz soon to get me some victory points.

How does it work? I was thinking of (being tormented by) chaos...

A reminder that Lorenz is still out there, still pretty cheap, and I'm still willing/able/hopeful that others from the group will play there!

Did the account problem ever get worked out? I'd be down for a few Lorenz games, I like this system way more than Vassal anyways... it'd be a great way to learn the new rules.

Well, I haven't actually logged on to see if anyone uses it, or if it even works...but they updated the old "Lorenzo" stuff with this: www.universalbattle.com/I'd used it a bit when it was brand new in development still. I can't speak about it other than it was a vast improvement even in its early stage. I'm going to see if I can try a few games over the next few weeks, I hope to see some of you on there sometime too!

1.5 Thumbs Up for Universal Battle.
The biggest thing that's lacking is the click-anywhere-and-drag tape-measure I'm used to now from Vassal. It still has the silly rulers that pivot around the middle, which is awkward.
There's also a little bugginess that most folks won't run in to, but when i take a model off a base, then try to put it back on, it doesn't work.
Hope to see some of you there!
