I'd been thinking it's been too long since I did any tournaments, and even longer since I've played Fantasy (since the Ordo-Ineptus league we did back when I was still in CT) and I saw there was going to be a 2000 pt fantasy tournament in Kissimmee at the end of the month and decided to make a point to get over there for it.
I thought about armies, and decided to go with the Army of Lord Horrificus. I needed to do some modeling stuff to get them 8th ed worthy (BIG unit of warriors instead of the 3 marauder horsemen units that met the core requirement in 7th) I'm going to combine my slaanesh and nurgle warrior units and do my scenic bases and to have 38 man unit of nurgle themed warriors.
Army of Lord Horrificus
Lord Horrificus (sorcerer lord)
Level 3, mark of Nurgle, power familiar, conjoined haemonculus, manticore
Bilefroth (exalted hero BSB)
Mark of Nurgle, gold sigil sword, enchanted shield, pigeon plucker pendant, daemonic mount)
x38 Chaos Warriors
Hand weapon/shield, full command, festering shroud)
x5 Chaos Hounds
x5 Chaos Hounds
x5 Chaos Hounds
Oozedrool the Vile (chaos warshrine)
Mark of Nurgle
Chaos Spawn
Chaos Spawn
Hellcannon
2000 pts
I wanted to make Horrificus casty rather than fighty, since that seems to be more the way of things in 8th vs. 7th. I was thinking of having him be a winged daemon prince, but at 2000 pts I can't really give him much.
With that big 700 pt unit (850 counting the warshrine which is basically a support unit for the warrior block), I wanted to make sure I spread out the remainder of the points over a number of units, so I have the spawn and warhound units there to run interference, and for 200 points I really couldn't go wrong with the hellcannon, particularly in this list. If it hits hard early on, they might devote some energy into taking it out, which can only help the big warrior block and the sorcerer lord. Having the extra punch of the big nasty unbreakable beastie in reserve I think will also be a big help if enemy units try and maneuver around behind the big warrior block.
Basically what this list entails, work-wise, is:

Basically what this list entails, work-wise, is:
- Making the scenic bases (I think I'm going to do a fetid swamp, with corpses, twisted trees and tentacles coming up out of the water and the occasional nurgling.
- Repainting the slaanesh warriors to nurgle warriors, and then give the entire unit a couple washes to give them a uniform look.
- Convert the BSB. I think I'm going to use green stuff and some stuff from the spawn kit and give him some sort of maggot-y, beast of nurgle looking thing with a hodai on top for him to stand in.
