Thank You John. Looks Excellent. I'll run through some logistics with Rod and see if we can't hammer this whole thing out. and start this adventure.

I like the one month rounds, for three months! I would agree that a tournament at the end would make more sense than one at the beginning (and more fun/fair with people having practice). I think what also made the previous escalation tournament less fun last year was that we restricted the lists, and that meant that we could be stuck with bad match-ups. This time it'd be nice to allow people to play games with any list during a round, provided you still meet the points requirement. It will simultaneously encourage new players to try new options and allow experienced players the opportunity to play around with their full collections.
Thoughts?

Well one at the beginning works because it gives people an intro to competitive play, and what their up against, they build, learn and grow, emotionally through the league then after a big insperational speech in the locker room, they go out for the last big game of the season. In this case, 35 points... But still a 35 point tournament is much diffrent then 10. It's a whole new dynamic.

Battlebox event is less of a tournament in my mind, more of an opportunity to play a bucketload of fast games to learn/refresh the rules if you're a bit rusty. More fun, less competitive.
Agreed that we don't need list restrictions this time around -- let people use what they want.

I agree on not restricting people to one list per points level. It is a good idea for players to not make a lot of changes game to game or when switching points levels, but it's also more fun and interesting to switch things up.
I plan on using only a few casters during the course of the league, and make pretty limited changes to the composition of the actual army.

Defenetlly, in my opinion, if you build a new list to try something new, and you hate it, you shouldn't be locked into it for a whole round.

Also I forgot to post the Team Tournament rules so I'll share them now (in case anyone is inspired for the future).
- Teams of 3 players: Captain, 1st Lieutenant, 2nd Lieutenant (usually ranked by skill) - For each round of the tournament a team will be pitted against another team. The captains of each team will play against each other, the first lieutenants will play against each other, and the 2nd lieutenants play against each other. The scenario for the round will be the same for all games and will be determined by the TO. - Victories for each game are determined according to the scenario and if a team wins a majority of their 3 games in the round against the opposing team, the team is considered to have "won" the round and earns a tournament point. - At the end of the tournament, the team with the most tournament points wins. If there is a tie, then the team with the best combined win/loss records for its team members wins the tie. For a 2nd tiebreaker, the team with the most combined control points wins and the 3rd tiebreaker is the team with the most army points destroyed. - For one round in the tournament, each team has the option to use a "team feat." Activation of the "team feat" allows the team to choose the match-ups for each team member. In other words, the team could decide that their 2nd Lieutenant woul play the opposing team Captain instead, the 1st Lieutenant would play against the opposing 2nd Lieutenant, and the Captain would play against the 1st Lieutenant. Teams roll off at the start of the round to determine who chooses to activate their feat first.

Love it. That would require at lest 12 people to be any fun tho haha. Maybe this summer we should try to get a venue. Ordo had a venue a couple years ago and i think we had like 20 people play in a 40k tournament. I came in last

The New England Team Tournament uses that format every summer and I think that maybe the club could just send some representatives to that event :-)

It's almost March, has there been any planning? I could try to help out.
Let's start by trying to get a starting date.
I'm not available this weekend, which is probably too soon anyway. Then I won't be around for March 23, 30, or April 6th. Currently the 9th and 16th look good for me.
Would the 16th work for a kick off tournament, then have the league run April, May and June?
