I'm not too familiar with Retribution, but I do know that a Mage Hunter Strike Force is a good investment. I'll try to post a little more later tonight.

Alright! Another interested Warmachine Hordes Player! I like the idea that you're going for. I think that the caster is solid enough. add a couple of Ghost snipers and the mage hunter strike force and I think you'll be solid.

I think the only other thoughts I have for now are to think about the Sentinel's UA, as well as getting a 2nd heavy. I don't know how easy it is to magnetize Retribution heavies, but if you can it's a good idea.
Play for awhile before you get too wild with more purchases though.

Mage Hunter Strike Force are one of the premiere shooting units in the game, and Mage Hunter Assassins are wickedly good solo's. I would start there... don't buy much beyond the battlebox until you've gotten a few test games in, you won't know how many warjacks or units/solo's will realistically fit into your force. Check out the PP forums for Retribution as well, there may be some good info there for someone interested in starting the faction... like this: privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?18978-SYVASH-STRONGHOLD-An-Initiation-Guide-And-FAQ-For-New-Initiates

So after doing some research I decided to buy Retribution battle box dawnguard invictors Ravyn
This will give me a decent starter army and with Ravyn give them a extremely solid ranged punch with good close combat to back it up.

I've VERY limited experience vs. Retribution...I remember not being too worried about their Jack-things, but the MHSF and MHA kicked the shit out of me.

Retribution can be quite the tricky army. They feel like they're missing *something* but no one can quite agree on what it is.

So I dont have anything yet so this may be way over or under pointed but what I think im going to work to is this Ravyn (buffs shooting units a ton) Full Dawnguard Invictors plus UA (with good ARM with plus's from UA and Ravyn shoot most infantry and solos to death quite quickly) Full Dawnguard Sentinels (with excellent hitting power take these and have them chop through nearly everything but heavy jacks) Chimera (Arc node foes forward quickly gets offensive spells out) Griffon (protects flank can take on most light warjacks) Manticore (good heavy gives covering fire gains lots of benefits from Ravyn also normal in melee)
