I know there was a discussion about having a league and/or tournament for Warmahordes sometime soon and I was wondering if anything had been finalized for that?

April is dedicated to a 40k tournament at the end of the month -- Bobby is cooking up something for WM/H in May, though I don't know if it'll be a league or a tournament or both

Good to know that people haven't forgotten about Warmachine Hordes! At this point, we're leaning towards a tournament, either at the level of 25 or 35 points. The only reason I'm leaning for 25 points is to keep the point level low enough to get new players involved. Where I'd love to do a League, the only issue is keeping the interest alive for the span of the event. Other then that, It's so far so good.

I approve the 25 point level for a tournament. Will we be using Steamroller 2013 rules? They're much friendlier for TOs than 2012. Only 12 scenarios and they're pretty standard in their scoring formats.

I'm really pumped for this. Not sure if 25 points is totally conducive to new players, who may be a bit overwhelmed by that much stuff, but it's a light enough points level even for us existing players who are a little rusty haha.

So give me an idea of how many additional models I would need From the starter Hordes Battlebox. Are there any other list building guidelines I should be aware of?
which things stink?

Definitely look at the Warspear Chieftain UA (he's like a sergeant upgrade for the unit). He really increases their damage output (as does the Warmonger War Chief solo). I would recommend getting another Legion Heavy Warbeast (Carnivean, Scythean, Ravagore) box as well -- you can magnetize all the arm/head options between that kit and the Carnivean in the starter set, you have plenty of flexibility in running two heavy warbeasts in your army. The Forsaken and Shepherd solo's are two models that help you manage your Fury resource, so that you can push your beasts to maximum capacity. Still, if you're looking for cheap -- adding the War Spear Chieftain and a Forsaken brings the starter box up to 25 points, the level proposed by Bobby: Lylyth, Herald of Everblight (*6pts)* Shredder (2pts)* Shredder (2pts)* Shredder (2pts)* Shredder (2pts)* Carnivean (11pts)Blighted Ogrun Warspears (Leader and 4 Grunts) (8pts)* Warspear Chieftan (2pts)The Forsaken (2pts)Or, if you want more big dragon monsters, pick up the heavy warbeast box and a Shepherd: Lylyth, Herald of Everblight (*6pts)* Shredder (2pts)* Carnivean (11pts)* Scythean (9pts)Blighted Ogrun Warspears (Leader and 4 Grunts) (8pts)Blighted Nyss Shepherd (1pts)Those are two affordable ways to get you off the ground (and if you buy everything, it comes out to 35 points). I'm not the Legion expert that Bob is, so definitely try to get his thoughts Legion excels at running lots of warbeasts, more so than other factions -- lots of big dragons running around are the name of the game. This seems like a flexible foundation, the Ogrun can slide into most lists easily and the big monsters backed up by good solo support can cause tons of damage. Changing your warlock is the best way to diversify your force, unlocking totally new spell lists, feats, and model abilities. I'd recommend sticking it out with pLylyth for the beginning, so you have some consistency learning the rules (I don't think she's the best warlock, but her model concept is sweet imo). Once you get the basics down, you can look into other warlocks -- Absylonia is one of Bob's favorites, who runs giant beast packs very very well. Thagrosh is one of my favorites from Legion as well. This is a pretty good wiki for WM/H unit information: battlecollege.wikispaces.com/mkiiLegion You can check out units, solos, and beasts there to get a vague idea of their abilities. It's a wiki so not totally reliable, but a good place to start (especially looking at the different warlocks, to see what they do).
