So I went on Amazon and used my gift card to get the following:
The Hordes 2 player battlebox Legion Paint set Warmachine/Hordes Templates Everblight token set
And I'm ready to roll.
But until a little later I'm tapped out from buying new models to bring myself up to 25 pts. So If Bob is playing Skorne in the tourney, I was hoping I could borrow a warbeast or two.

Good luck in the tourny next weekend. After that, we'll have to get together and play on Vassal some. I'm looking to get back into the game with a different faction (while I loved the look of Cryx, their play style has never worked for me and Blindwater doesn't really have a lot of options) and I'm wanting to try out playing as commie bastards and evil crazy church people. I'm going to do something I don't usually do and play a lot before I start buying any of the models to find out what works for me.

Good stuff Mullane -- the tokens and templates are a smart purchase, I didn't think of that. 25 points is a pretty big jump, I learned the game by playing a ton of battlebox/15 point games. I'm impressed you've taken to it so quickly! My communists look forward to glorious combat. Jason, I could see you liking the Khador stuff. It's a little more straightforward than Cryx or Gators, and they still have some weird/creepy/evil things that I know you love in an army. Doom Reavers are crazed psycho madmen with daemon swords... Greylords are basically the occult KGB with evil mustaches and fancy beards... the Old Witch is a creepy exdruid entity that's as old as the world itself. Lots of potential for a really disturbing army theme there. I love your Gators though, those guys are excellent. If I ever got into Hordes, I'd want to do Gators or Circle. Gators would probably be good, less things for me to buy!

I'm totally on board for a vassal game Jason, but I will need Brain to walk me through installation and playing the game. the 40k vassal experience wasn't what I expected, and I still haven't quite figured it out. Based on Brian's pictures the vassal Warmachine engine looks pretty good. Brain if you're bored this evening want to try and walk me through it? around 10?
Also when are you done with School for the year and what are you doing for the summer again? When is your trip to Latin America?

Yeah I did like the Vassal engine for war machine better than for 40K. My folks are down here this week for my graduation, so I probably won't start playing around with it again until till the following week, but then I'd love to get some games in with you, and Scruffyface, and Darth Bob and anyone else who would like to kick my ass.

I texted you, but not sure you got it (and I wound up being out later than 10:00 anyways). I like the Warmachine vassal engine more than 40k... still takes a bit of getting used to, but with less models/a slightly more intuitive interface I think it works well.
