Got my codex today
Tons of cool stuff.
Dont even know where to start. My initial lists are so far pretty boring retreads of my current eldar dark eldar lists... but include things like the giant knight and an additional wraithlord.
But see tons of things I want to play with. Phoenix lords are really cool. Removed their restrictions on joining units it seems. Karandras has an inititative 7 powerfist that is awesome, Jain Zars mask is really nice.
Striking scorpions seem buffed, banshees seem kinda lame still which sucks. Guardians seem buffed... but in combined allied lists they still arent as good as dark eldar warriors in my mind.
Still dont know how exactly to deal with Tau... might have something to do with the fact that I love 240pt t3 characters lol.
Vect - 240
20 Warriors - 2 splinter cannons, Sybarite with PGL - 230 20 Warriors - 2 splinter cannons, Sybarite with PGL - 230
3 True born - 2 splinter cannons - 56 Venom - 2 splinter cannons, grisly trophies - 70
5 Beast Masters - 10 Kymerra, 6 razorwing flocks - 270
Farseer - 100
3 Jetbikes - 51 3 Jetbikes - 51
Wraithknight - 240 Wraithlord - 2 scatter laser, wraithglaive - 165
Thats 1703... so have 147 points to play with for 1850pt events and almost 300pts for bigger events. Dont know if I want another psyker(either straight farseer or the Spirit seer for some of the cool warlock tree powers). Or maybe more jet bikes for silly fast cheap scoring. Or maybe need to simply reshuffle things entirely to see how things shake out.

Spiritseer with troop wraiths (shooty or melee, both have merit...S7 AP2 with 4++ on T6 is sexy)

I like how Vect is equal to a wraithknight or the 2 farseers lol

Trying to refine it. Mainly this is for an event in august called the ATC. A team event where you can manage matchups with your 5 player team matching up against stuff. Thusly im less concerned with massed flyer lists and probably tau shooting lists which would be my worst pairings and probably avoided.
The format also has you playing 3 missions every game, the same 3 every game if Ive read correctly. That is emperor's will(capture and control), 5 objectives, and kill points. The kill point thing is what the slight shift from list 2-3 is concerned with. Trying to keep a balance between kill points and having enough shooting units to ground flying monstrous creatures.

I think Wraithknights are completely insurmountable in some matchups.
Then in other matchups they're bordering on worthless.
So if you can manage the matchups well (I have no idea how that part works) then you're golden.
My list, for example, has exactly one unit to deal with Wraithknights, and you'll shoot it down before it does, so I'm auto-win for you.
Splinter, Shuriken, Tau (as you mentioned) are bad deals.
GKSS spam?

Yeah I really really like the wraithknights in the khorne hound matchup . I agree they are much less useful against things like a pure mirror match. But they are so fast that they can stay with the beasts and add their considerable weight to help deal with things like paladin if the beasts can tie up most of the actual paladins. Also they are in my mind a much better anti walker/land raider then the wyches were. And str 10 guns can crush t5 demon princes. Matchups in ATC work like this. 5 team members. Each team has a captain who roll off against each other. Loser puts an army out and the opponent gets to pick the match. Then reverse back and forth until all players are matched. I think basically on my team Im supposed to be set up to get good to at least even matchups as often as possible in order to go for aggressive crushes with the beasts and splinter weapons.

Haha why do you say that? The 2 squads of 20 warriors?
Its funny cus I brought those 40 warriors as kinda a goof ball thing to play in the doubles with bobby and it shredded so much of the field that I guess I kinda decided to run with it.
Also the wraithknights being effective anti landraider let me dump the wyches.

Yeah, I enjoyed the two Warrior blobs when I'd messed with them, back when you eschewed shooting, looking down your nose at those of us that participated in the shooting phase! And now look at you...down to one melee unit, and all those guns! And me...a whole army of melee with nary a gun amongst them!

I just realized that you two have molded the way we play 40K in Ordo, one of you win with shooty armies the other tries a counter and in the back and forth we all just follow the trend
nicely done guys ;D

Well yeah only one assault unit...
But 540pts in that assault unit.
And the wraithknights are going to be assaulting on lot in my strategy.
I also really like sending warriors into assault. With psychic support and sometimes vect leading them they are almost as good as wyches on the charge. Especially if they can pick up a few pain tokens with shooting first.
And of course Bob and I shape the way 40k is played for the local group. Most people collect what they want to collect, or paint for that matter. Since Bob and I travel a lot we are constantly updating our lists to deal with the ever changing landscape of tournament 40k. Add into that we also do a fair bit of tailoring against each other to a certain extent. So in terms of a localized meta we are the proverbial straw that stirs the drink.
