I was going to hold this off for a big reveal at Battle For Salvation but I just can't. I know not everyone here will be going so that is how I'm justifying spilling the beans. I still have some work to do. Obviously the building needs paint, lots of detain work on the terminators and flock and foliage on the base/bases. But it's been cut, glued, joint compounded, sanded, flex pasted, sealed, textured, primed, base costed, washed, and dry brushed. Phew! Behold, 'The Rock' themed display board for the Deathwing Speartip!

Absolutely amazing Timmy - I've come to expect nothing less from you. That background is pretty cool - is that something that's going to be part of the display or just what you shot the picture against.

That's the dreadfleet cloth, though if time allows I'd like to make a starry nebulous background.

The Dreadfleet set came with an actual cloth like that - that's pretty cool. By the way, I'm really drooling over the 2" insulation foam, because I can't get any more now. All anyone has down here now is 3/4". Don't they know people use these for more than keeping in heat?? I went to Home Depot the other day to get board for Snake Mountain and they didn't even have the 3/4" - rather they had 1" thick 'project boards' that were 2'x2' and they were selling them for $5.50! That's like 4 times what you pay for getting them as the normal 8 foot boards. I'm going to try one of the other stores this week. What do you normally use to glue them together, anyway? I've tried a couple of different things. Right now I'm looking for something that will glue foam and also PVC pipe because I'm planning on using the pipes for support and to make the display fit together in three pieces so I can get it in a suitcase.

Eric would be the best one to ask for that as I haven't had to glue PVC pipe yet. I picked up a gallon of Elmer's all purpose glue on amazon for $13 with shipping. I use big pieces of mdf from an old project and some clamps to keep it together for about 24 hours. I covered the whole thing in joint compound to cover up any gaps between the foam as well as give some of the odd melted bits more of a rock texture. Covering the entire thing with a thick coat of PVA glue makes it feel really durable. I just wanted to seal it and keep bits from breaking off but it really gives it a solid plastic feel, color me impressed.

I'm curios on how you stabilized the acrylic stem to the foam and what the base looks like

I was having a bad day today and decided to come on the Forums, and this really cheered me up. Tim. This is insanely cool. I just starred at it for a good minute. Excellent job. I'm going to have to copy you when I get to the display board stage. I remember thinking the terminators were already finished, and knowing you've done even more with them? this is crazy. I can't wait to see this in person. Hopefully we'll bump into each other before BFS. I can't go, but look forward to see folks' pictures and battle reports!

Well thanks Tom, that's about the coolest effect one can hope for from painting in this hobby. I'm off Saturday and Brian might be stopping by if you want to take your mind off things for a bit.
I'm working in Danbury now so I drive past the place you guys were at everyday. Been thinking about you. How's it been going?
