Back at the university, bored as usual and with zero ability to sate my desire to play with my little toy soldiers I've been busy painting, mostly malifuax at the moment, just to keep my skills sharp but I have been touching up some tau as well.
Something I really wanted to do at school this year was start a pre heresy army that I would be able to use either in a chaos or loyalist codex, (codex SM an codex CSM). Well as it would turn out it takes more than a month for any order to arrive, in addition to the logistical nightmare of trying to build one force with all converted/forgeworld models that can be used in two books. Too much, too much I say!
So this leaves me with a whole lot of motivation but nothing to do with it, so I figured why not some of the new space marines since I'm on a marine bug anyway. I've played just about every 40k army out there, but thankfully my army ADD has calmed down a lot since I was 15 so I think I can get some reasonable work done here. I've got with me here two marine squads and Pedro Kantor although I'm not too interested in Crimson fists, i just love his rules and his model.
Right now I just have no clue how I want these guys to be painted, and I figured you guys could help me out/tell me If i'm ripping off another chapter's colors.
Right now I'm pretty fond of green and gold, with veterans will gold helmets or something. Still open to more ideas for paint ideas, here is a cool website if you want to drop what your custom marines look like or if you more artistic people out there can suggest ways to paint them. Haven't had the time to even take them outta their boxes or assembly so it's gonna be a little while before some paint gets on plastic so hat gives all of you plenty of time to help develop them with me.
website for painting them: (some bolter and chainsword program) bolterandchainsword.com/smp.php
Since there is no one to play with down here and no campaigns, tournaments or even pick up games for me to be had, I haven't really put too much thought into a name/fluff for the chapter. Some fluff i thought of so far is basically three chapters liberated an imperial shrine world in a sector that was under attack from xenos and heritics. The last world to reconquer from the heretics and xenos was a shrine world known as Carth, agreeing among themselves that exterminatus was unacceptable. The three chapters (all of fairly new foundings) attack the world all at nearly full chapter strength following the successful campaign of the rest of the planets in the sector. All three chapters are horribly massacred on the planet. Imperial Army and Navy intelligence fumbles the ball and planet defense lasers nearly wipe out one of the three chapters completely, destroying several battle barges before they deployed their marines in the opening salvo's of the invasion. A dangerous deployment via stormravens and drop pods drop nearly 2000 marines onto the planet from the three chapters and over the course of a month the planet is brought back into compliance and many of the shrines were saved from desecration. All three chaters sustained unacceptable losses at the hands of imperial incompetence and betrayal, but also earned enough honors in campaign then some chapters amass in centuries of combat, O the tales from the survivors detail battles that only the stuff of legend can come close to comparing. The surviving marines of the three chapters agree the only reasonable course of action would be to merge all three chapters into one, donning the new name "Heros of Carth" and adopting the colors of the shrine worlds patron saint, Saint Rupert. This chapter doesn't follow the codex's rules for organization, instead choosing to found three grand companies, each maintaining their own armories and traditions of their former chapters. The chapter as a whole is commanded by a council of three chapter masters from the three grand companies.
Just an idea, I'm bored as i said so some stuff to think about when I am pretending to take notes in lecture. Whatcha think? As soon as i can I will be posting the WIP, just wanted to get my thoughts on paper so to speak.
