So the fact of the matter is that I was behind in my painting BEFORE the fire that took out my apartment...But now that things have settled down, and I have little to do in the way of entertainment in my new place, The battle to meet my pledge is on. I torpedoed most of my hopes by spending nearly 300 dollars at the Warstore weekend on new models, add that to all the models I need to restore from smoke damage, and it becomes quite a mountain of painting in the pipeline. But I am undeterred!
I am left with a ton of projects to complete, and only a month and a half to get them done.
I will post pictures as I complete them, so consider this a MASSIVE work in progress thread for people interested in seeing what I'm up to. By no means am I an artist of Tim's caliber, or Randy's, or Jasons, or Ian's...or Rod's......or Arlin's.......or Mikey and Bobby...(and Bobby's colorblind for cripes sake) BUT NEVER YOU MIND! I will out hustle you guys! unless you think you can out work me...Company is welcome.
My to do list:
Restoration or repainting: FOW: 1. Medium Battery 5.5 Guns
2. Bofors 40MM X 2 Guns
3. 3 German Tigers with 3 part Camo 4. 6 StuG assault guns with 3 part Camo
5. The Entire Welsh Guards Armored Division out of Market Garden -11 Cromwell Tanks -3 Challenger Tanks -3 Firefly Tanks
Warmachine 6. 3 Shredders 7. 1 Carnivean 8. Lylith 9. 5 Orgun Warspears
Regular Painting
Open Fire Box Set -German Grenadiers 4 squads -2 platoons American Paratroopers
I'll need to borrow someone's airbrush until mine is up and running.

The Miracles of "Simple Green" So I had made an earlier effort to clean some of my models of the smoke damage. I used Tide, vinegar, and didn't achieve any results. Here are some of the pictures of the before.... I am soaking my cromwells overnight, to see if I can strip the paint and start over. I will let people know what happens...

Simple green is amazing, a nice soak and a toothbrush and paint just peels off. I hope they can be salvaged.
I've kinda lost track of my pledge this year, but I know it's been better than any prior year so that's a plus. The dark angles are my first truly finished army I've ever had believe it or not. I've gotten my Ogres and my Blood Angels close, and definitely table top ready, but not every model was at a point I had planned for it to be at. I know the fire out a serious dent in your hobby pledge but it's good to see you muster the strength to push through.

Well thank you Tim! Pictures of some rehabilitated models.. The Simple green not only worked...but it actually cleaned the soot off...on most cases leaving the paint intact. I checked on them only 2 hours in. It is clear that it would have completely stripped the paint if left there. I did about 4 hours of touch ups on the models, and need to do more detail work, but it is nice to know that I can finish them without starting completely from scratch. In some cases it even allowed me to fix some errors I had made the first time I painted them. These were the first models I ever painted so they have sentimental value to me. But I didn't do a great job around the first time.... Its all about layers. Right Tim

That's awesome that the simple green worked so well! I'm really glad you can rehabilitate these guys, and your flames stuff looks awesome. I really enjoy how good the camouflage patterns look on the smaller scale (I rarely see it done well at the 28-30mm scale).
Oh, and I bumped into the guy who gave you that Cygnar battlebox on Saturday at the Warmachine tournament!

Oh wow, tell Ed, I still have his minis, and will rehabilitate them. The got pretty smoked as a result of the fire. He is a great guy. And I really enjoyed playing with him. He also has an extensive FOW army, and a ton of 40k stuff. I lost touch with him, but hope he's doing well.
