With a couple days left in 2013, I'm making a big push to get the number o models painted up over the number acquired. I spent the last few days finishing off Collodi's box set for Malifaux, which had been sitting around 80% done for almost a year now. I thought it would be appropriate to paint up the evil toys in between the Christmas festivities.
Collodi is basically an evil Pinnochio and his backstory is when all the children left Malifaux (when everybody abruptly disappeared) and he became lonely and then eventually over the years turned bitter and twisted, and when Malifaux was resettled, children slowly began disappearing while Collodi's entourage of dolls began to increase, the implication being he turns them into his minions so they can never leave him.
I decided to theme the bases around his backstory and have abandoned items of childhood on each of the bases of his minions; popcorn, cotton candy, a lollipop, a doll, a kite, a ball, and a stick horse.
Collodi's base I decorated with nods to two Stephen King stories. The blocks forming REDRUM (the Shining), and the paper boat sailing into the sewer drain (It).
I'm pretty happy with how they came out, and that makes the fifth Malifaux starter crew I've finished now. I've got the Dreamer, Lucius, and Kirai waiting in the wings, but probably won't start any of them for a couple months.
I just finished my plague monk unit I started working on in the spring and hope to finish the plague furnace before New Years, along with the Bengal Boyz bikes and mechs which are about 95% done right now
