Default MetalBeard's Duel Kit Review
Picked this one up yesterday, it was a new release by company a not known for their wargaming releases.
The kit is in aproximately 50mm scale, and the end model is just slightly bigger than a Galleon Colossal, it Depicts "Metalbeard" A pirate who barely survived an attack by merciless robot drones and has built himself a giant steampunk body out of parts of his ship. at $35 for a huge based model, it's a steal!
The kit itself is an unassembled prepaint, model, molded in color, casting is exceptionaly crisp, with no mold lines or flash. All parts are cleanly keyed and fit together without need for glue or pinning, that's the good side, the bad side is that the kit has approximately 400 peices, about 2/3 of which make the title character, many of the parts have alternate mounting points, for conversion, that may require some dremel or putty work to fill on the finished model.
Over all the kit is wonderful, if a little cartoonish it's as if Broadside Bart met Karchev the Terrible, While there was no rules card, homebrew rules would be easy enough to cook up. he's armed with twin cannon on one arm. and a grabbing claw on the other hand, which can also wield a massive sword, it would be begging for Thresher and Reach if Colossals couldn't do that already. The two cannons are easily the size of the Commodore and ample reloads are provided, so specialized munitions are probably available, over all though he seems a little under armed as his only secondary weapon is a single hand cannon. though the addition of a parrot, and shark, lead me to believe he might be a warcaster unit, with birds eye and an amphibious attack attachment like the Butcher's Argi
The kit can be bought at most major retailers, though it's unlikely to be at your FLGS
