Hi I bought the dark vengeance starter set back in January and have been assembling and painting it since then. I was given your guys card at Hobbytown and was wondering if anyone would be interested in teaching me how to play. I've watched battle reports online and have read the through the rules a little bit, so I have an idea of some of the basics of the game. I haven't really had a chance to play though because of school but spring break starts later this week so I should have some free time. As of now I have off from work Friday and Saturday if anyone's interested in teaching me. Thanks.

I have a feeling some people will be around and would be happy to teach you. Also, Hobbytown is selling its 40k models for 25% off in case you want to expand your army.
Shane and I are overseas, but Rod is around, and Kevin may be? I know Josh, Vince and a few others may be around as well. Stay tuned and they should post soon! If all else fails, check in at Gamer's Gambit, there are a few active players, and they may have a regular night for you to stop in and get a game.

I might stop by Saturday as well but I am doing a few errands that day so can't stay long.

As of now I have off from work Friday and Saturday if anyone's interested in teaching me. Thanks. It's nice to have another person interested in 40k! I'm Josh, one of the big 40k enthusists in the club. 40k is a great game and is fun if you play it right. The first thing you should look for is a starter army (Check!), and another person (Check!). THe next step is to see if you're actually going to play the game! There's no use in spending money on something you'll use for about a month! I'll swing by hobbytown one of these days and I'll hook you up with really anything you want to expirament with. I have every army except for chaos, dark eldar and Dark Angels. Look around GW's website and get a taste for what army you want to try and just tell me, I'll bring it in and show you the game! The absolute largest part of the game though is to have fun. Don't be frustrated with always loosing, I've had plenty of losses in my day. Hope to see you around!

Cool, thanks Josh, Yeah I'm not too concerned with winning or losing, I'm just looking to have a good time. I'm leaning at either starting a space marine army (not sure which chapter), or an ork army, or maybe expanding the dark vengeance chaos army after I finish painting the starter set. I want to finish painting the starter set first and get the rules down before I go any further.

Hey Kyle, welcome to the forum,
We haven't had much activity with 40k recently, but your in good hands with Josh and Vince, they know the game and have been looking to get more guys to play.
I have a couple of 40K armies my self, but haven't played in loooong time, I don't think I'm even have the latest codex (are they still call that?) for my armies.
Hope to meet you in person at the club this weekend.

In May gamers gambit is hosting a organized play event called tank shock from GW. Details are still forthcoming but it basically entails a building day event, painting day, a single vehicle on vehicle king of the hill style event, smaller 500pt army vs army event, up to a 1750pt all day tournament type event at the end. You can attend as little or much as you like and get small rewards along the way. I'll post a link when the details emerge but here is the first post on it. www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/tank-shock-event?_requestid=3383099

So Sam, it's basically just a games day? I probably will end up there no matter what it is!
