You could beat the DE with the only army that can........ Another DE army:)

I think there are other armies that can beat the DE - they're not quite that nasty. A good empire, high elf, lizardman, wood elf, or vampire build I think would match up with most DE armies, although they may be the one army the average daemon army doesn't stack up well against. My current army build can be dealt with by anyone with magic, since I've only got two dispel dice!! Anyone with a halfway decent spell list would wreak havoc on them, and the undead could tar pit them all day long. I'm definitely dropping out the dragon for another manticore as soon as I convert a DE lord to ride on my old school manticore. The dragon I think I would reserve for 3000 point battles or for a high casting/shooting version of the army, where I would have two powered up level 2 mages and swap the hydra out for more bolt throwers.

More bolt throwers, Whay don't you give up 10 arches you have 30. the hydra is a beasty little thing. you could set up the blot throwers in the back and than make the 2 remaining archer squads to gaurd either side. Just don't put the archers too far back.

Cause I don't wanna paint another 20 archers! I remember them not being too bad, though, so I may go with that. It would be good to keep the hydra around for when people get close.

Oh, you meant give up a unit of them. Can't because they're my core requirement. Wouldn't be able to have 2 extra bolt throwers and a hydra either, so it would have to be one or the other.

No, you have 30 archers now, drop ten and get another BT.

A witch elf themed army would be interesting too. Drop the dragon entirely and get the cauldron of blood (cool model, but only really usefull in a WE army), Sorceress lord, level 2 sorceress, and maybe a couple of hag queens, then go all witch elves and archers, with unit of cold ones and either the hydra or bolt throwers.

Now, THIS would be cool for a DE sorceress lord on dark pegasus. I always wanted to do a spider theme with my DE and have little spiders on the bases, and make dark riders that were spider/centaurs with the crossbowman upper body on a goblin spider or LOTR spider, then have someone on a big nasty spider for my general. www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/spider/latest/03085This one is a reaper, so I wouldn't be able to use her in GW tourneys, but if I ever wanted to bring them to that I have a pair of unassembled Shelobs that I could convert instead. I may pick up the reaper just so I can try out the army build.

That looks awsome. I think an army made that way would look cool.

Ooh, cauldron of blood doesn't take a rare slot anymore. Looks like they finally figured out that's why nobody was using them. Sweet

Nobody likes to face a gunline. You have a really over-the-top amount of shooting in there already, adding more RBTs would make it worse. About the Reaper minis, there are no more GW tournaments...they've pulled all their tournaments for North America ( gwuscommunity.com/?p=442 ). Reaper it up!

my friend who has played DE for quite some time now gets beat by VC quite a bit i think that both undead armies would do well against DE...well maybe not tomb kings

Doom diver is like a stone thrower but with better accuracy - almost like a guided missle. Snotling pump wagon is a 35 point chariot thing with like 1d3 Str 3 impact hits and moves 2d6 per turn like a chaos spawn
