Since I started a thread for fine tuning the game mechanics of Eric's Treasure Well territory, I figured I would start one for the scenery project itself.
Here is the the flavor text from Eric's (awesomely written) submission which describes the location of the well.
What seems to be nothing more than a small abandoned village, may hold secrets from across the world. While sifting through the rubble small ignots of gold shaped into strange images of dragons can be found. And in the center of the town sits an oversized well with no pit to draw water from. What tresures lay buried here? Forgotten by man, but not by those from whom they were taken.
I'm guessing that the glyphs are Lustrian (which will be cool because there are so many nice glyphs and bits in the various lizardman kits over the years)
These glyphs could decorate perhaps some of the doors and architecture of the buildings, and possibly small statues or monuments (many of which would probably be crumbling, their plaques illegible)
The buildings themself would probably be ruined, with just a corner section or a few walls remaining. Perhaps half buried in drifts of earth or rubble that may have accumulated over the years.
The well itself could perhaps be in better shape. The sides of the well could be sculpted with more glyphs around its circumference.
I see big piles of dirt and rubble about, since at the time of the battle in which this terrain would be used, there would be some excavation already done by the army that found it. Many of the glyphs and monuments and possibly the well itself may have been only recently uncovered, having been partially buried in debris and earth.
Some of the area could be overgrown in vines and weeds perhaps. Perhaps even strange, almost tropical vegetation that would normaly not be suited to such a climate, but yet manages to thrive in the vicinity of the well such is the power of the place.
Does this sound kind of like you were envisioning, Eric? What kind of architecture did you picture the buildings as having? Lustrian inspired or Empire/Brettonian with the strange symbols worked in?
I would love to model the interior of the well, but to make that useful, I would have to incorporate a skirmish aspect to the Treasure Well scenario. I'll have to give that some thought.
