I dropped by the store today and was surprised to see a really cool display for the Bolt Action game. For those not in the know, it's a 28mm WW2 game. It's awesome. I played it for nearly three years in California when I left last time. I've put on a few demo games, but if anyone is interested in finding out more, let me know. It's a unique game system, the rules are easy to learn and the models are fantastic - you typically take an infantry platoon with some support, but there's also a way to play with just tanks. If that doesn't entice you, there's a Weird War version imminently releasing that lets you take all kinds of cool stuff, like tesla tanks, walkers... And Nazi zombies! One important thing - while all the models at the store are not affected, there is a 2nd edition of the rules just around the corner, like the next month or two, so if you get the fever, don't buy the rule book just yet. There are also new plastic paratroops coming soon - American and British. Beyond that, the model range is huge, all kinds of books, and it's very well supported on the tournament scene. What have you heard about Version 2? What are the big changes?
You said you have a lot of soviets? If I were to collect an army you didn't have a lot of, what would that be?

All the big changes are listed here: www.warlordgames.com/bolt-action-2-incoming/The one army I don't have a lot of would be Americans. I usually combine regular GI's with Paratroopers, but don't have a complete force of either. Second would be British regulars. I have the starter box, but it's on my to-do list. I have German Heer, but not the new panzergrenadiers which are really nice.

I'd like to demo American Paratroopers and German infantry if you get a chance.

I was just thinking, a number of you have said theres a slim chance you'd maybe, possibly, might just, be interested in getting into Bolt Action.... So what armies are you all leaning towards? This would be a chance to discuss so there's no overlapping! And even if you pick the same nation as someone else, there are multiple varieties*, from regulars to paras... Oh did I mention the British Commandos are ridiculously awesome models?! *Except Soviets, natch!

Who'd be interested in a big-multiplayer game of Bolt Action at the store next Saturdsy morning? I'm thinking Russians Vs. Germans, with an infantry platoon and tank squad on each side, but if we have enough people I could bring Brits too.

Unfortunately we've reached the time of the year where I do nothing but go to weddings, and attend amazingly awesome professional development days (kevin can tell you all about those) so I'm out of commission until we get past labor day. Then I'm all for some bolt action!

Hey! Maybe my idea was a little impulsive - I realize we need to finish the Market Garden campaign too - let's do this Bolt Action game after the 18th.
And Kevin, you can definitely play on the German side!

If anyone is interested, I have a one-time coupon code with Warlord Games to get a free box of plastic infantry with the purchase of the new rule book.
You can choose US, German, Soviet, British or Japanese infantry.
Ping me a PM if you would like the offer - it's a one time use only, so first come first served!
****Update - we have a taker! ****
