It ain't over till the fat lady sings...but she's been warming up for a few turns now. We need more games folks. Kevin and I wound up simulating 6 games today. And while its awesome we've gotten in as many as we have, and I can proudly say we've taken this campaign where none before it have gone, I would love for more.
kevin will post a full breakdown of everything but here is where we stand by my reckoning...
In the North: The British Airborne, reasonably well supplied, has yet to fight a major engagement with German forces, have not taken anything worth points, and are on the verge of destruction should they remain unsupplied by allied ground forces for a 5th consecutive day. The Germans are looking to give them a pounding, moving 4 full firestorm units south of the bridge with the intent to either cut off or smash Osterbeck head on. One way or another, that front won't stay quiet.
In the Middle: The 82nd airborne has been completely destroyed. an Entire division killed captured or wounded. If David had someone to play other than Kevin...maybe it goes differently. If I hadn't helped manuever him into a corner, maybe we could have hung on longer, either way, the Germans have managed to score 40 unanswered points by destroying units out of supply with nowhere to run. Rolling dice to win initiative seems to have gone to the Germans at the worst possible moments. I almost saved them with a charge up the road, but lost initiative at the last moment and never got it back. Gliders landed and siezed and approach to the southern bridges, so we may see the allies grab their first 82nd objective. There are tanks in the area, and while they aren't supplied yet, they might be soon.
To the South: Eindhoven was taken again, and despite the best efforts of the allies over 5 campaign turns we've never held it for a full campaign turn. more allied troops are out of supply and things are a mess. along the eastern road, the allies have made some progress, and some fallschrimjager units stand between them and linking up the routes to the central bridges.
The Final Battle looks to be September 18th, unless their are major conflicts from folks. Shane is willing to host at his house and is free, and hopefully we have at least 6 players ready to go.
Map is below.
