I really dig the red you have going on their, dude. Was it just Mechrite and a Baal Red wash? And what do you plan on using to highlight it? (I have to find a good red for my Red Corsairs!)
For the rhino door on the base, I wouldn't make it red as well... I feel like that'd be a little overwhelming on one model. Maybe black with metals? Or entirely with metals?

yea i dont want to do it red, it would be overkill. in the pics is a Mechrite red base washed with Baal. i brightened it up with a layer of red gore and another baal wash. next im thinking a layer of a 1:1 of red gore + blood red for the final armor layer, then highlight with blood red then a 1:1 blood red + firey orange, then finaly straight firey orange. but i havent ever done any red armors before so its all expermential. ill make sure to get more pics up. Also i have done my first layer of grey drybrushing on the stone of the base. EDITEDok heres a few pics of the progress, heres the next layre of red on the armor, its a mix of blood red and red gore. i think im doing to leave the plates as is. its a brighter red but not ugly bright. i also touched up the black in alot of places. joints, the eagle and head. not really sure what im doing with the backpack aray yet though. and i might leave the rhino door bit black and weather it as is.

great work man, I like the soft layers that you're getting on the model, adds a lot of deep
is the shine in the last picture, just light or a glazed?

just the lighting from my lamps *edited*Heres a pic of the first level of hilights. straight blood red. im thinking of doing a mox of red gore and blood red for a first layer of hilighting on the next model. but anyways after this ill do a mix of blood red and firey orange, and possable a final hilight of firey orange.

Hey guys, how are you all. I figured id take the time to post an update now that my Devastator Sergant is nearing completion. Here's a few pics of my Sergant. i need to pick up the blues i need for the head,, and i need to decide what i want to do with the few lenses and such in the aray thingy on his back. other than that i have hilighted all the metals and blacks on the model, and have done a firther layer or two of hilighting on the armor. and a side view. Here's an isolated pic of the base. not sure how i like the rusting spots, it kind of looks blotchy so i dont know if im doing to change it or not. Thoughts and oppinions? And now heres the new model im starting to work on, VERY early in the conversion process showing how i cut and reposition my legs. Cut into 9 pieces, feet, upper and lower legs, kneecaps and the hips. This will be one of my Sergants for my assualt squads, hes going to be a more of at rest pose with a thunder hammer. And last but not least i got home from work today with a fancy parcel waiting for me for my personal enjoyment witch i will now share... Forgeworld dreadnought baby!!! Unfortunatly hes going to sit around for now till i can flush out my painting techniques, specificly getting my long purity scrolls and golds at a more comfortable level, but i want to paint him in a way that screams Black Templar. I plan on ordering more of the Forgeworld CC weapons and using him as a Death Company Dead till my Templars are redone. Thats all for now, as always comments and critique, good and bad are welcomed.

I looove that Dread model. I have one of my own... and if they ever redo Templars, I'd probably get another one or two just because they're that sick The red is looking good, from the pictures it looks a little thick. I don't know if that's the case or if it looks a bit different in person.

Great job on the nids Josh. I really like the way you're doing the carapaces with the purple highlights - they look great!
