I'm going to be playing in the map campaign with Lord Horrificus and his horde of chaos, although in big events that require me to take on the role of DM or judge, my army will not be participating. In late May, before the actual start of the campaign, I am planning on doing Return to Shellendrak, and the ranking of players from that game will determine the order that people will get to pick their HQ territories on the map. In addition to getting first pick for HQ terrritory, the winner will also start the campaign with the Shadygrove/Shellendrak territory in his control.

That sounds cool. Will the Shellendrak be the same as last time? Everyone has to find there objective and kill anything in their way.

Sweet, I never got to give the original Shellendrak a go. Tim the Enchanter shall claim it!

What I have planned is a preliminary skirmish game to be played on one of our normal gaming nights that will have much smaller warbands. This will determine the order that people will get to choose their setup area for the main Shellendrak game, which would be held on a weekend so that we can do it as an all day thing like last time. The clues are all going to be in the preliminary scenario, rather than in the main game itself. This is to make them more useful, so that you can plan your positioning and basic strategy for the big game based on what special information you might know, rather than being up on the second floor late in the game and randomly getting a clue that says something's in the basement. The smaller game will take place in the village of Shadygrove itself, and will involve rescuing (or capturing, depending on your army) villagers. Each one you rescue will give you points and different random clue. There may also be special items scattered about. The first game will be called "Shellendrak's Revenge" and the storyline is that after having his mansion assaulted the previous time, Dr. Shellendrak is exacting his vengeance upon the people of the nearby village. The Ghoul of the Grove has called for his old friend, Dr. Carnivean the circus master. Many of Shellendrak's expiriments have ended up in Carnivean's travelling freak show over the years, you see. Now the entire Circus Chimera is descending upon the village of Shadygrove to torment its citizens. Who will protect them from these unspeakable troupe of misshapen horrors?

Dr C i have the Mighty Empire expansion set that comes with hexagonal tiles to build maps. They are still unpainted but we can use them for the campaing, if this adds any fun to it. And of course I will field Bretonnia for this campaing.

So we are going to have a small skirmish battle on a regular night to get clues for your individual mission. And than on a weekend or something we will be having a full blow skirmish thing like last time. is this correct?

Yup, that's the plan. Hopefully we'll be able to line up a reasonably priced venue. Worse comes to worse we'll have to just shell out a little money or maybe hold it at someone's house

If we can plan for a nice day we would be able to hold it at my house. It is a bit of a ride and it would be outside under a pivilina type thing but it is better than nothing.

I think that might work in a pinch, Evan - thanks for offering. Where do you live? You come into the store a lot, so I can't imagine it to be too far away.

You know that's an idea though for when we do things in the summer months - a lot of parks around here like Squanz Pond have pavillion areas (or we can get/rent a portable one) - we could do like an Ordo picnic somewhere - bring some family members, everyone brings food. The geeks can game while everyone else enjoys the park. Squanz has canoeing and paddleboats and stuff and Bear Mountain is up near the New York crowd and they have all that stuff and an animal refuge zoo and nature walk.
