I had a really good conversation at Fall In! with the National Tournament organizer for Battlefront. I think his name was Dave - he knew a lot of you guys by name, and Craig too.
He was really pushing for us to hold a big Tanksgiving game and invite other clubs. I said I'd let you all know. He seemed like he really wanted to help!

Tanksgiving is a FOW scenario, so I'm hesitant to play Team Yankee using the rules. Aircraft are very different in the two games. Last year we had fun doing Arab-Israeli and I know a few people that Said they wanted to do it again, as it seems pretty well balanced for tank combat. But, nobody else seems to be posting... We already did a Bulge event this year, so I think that will have to wait a few months, since we planned on doing a Midwar tournament in December. I think X-wing has had several chances and nobody has come through. It was scheduled for November, but nobody has expressed any interest before you. I am willing to participate and even plan and run it, but people need to commit and honor their commitments. Armada had a chance in September, and when the campaign comes out I will run that. I don't know that there is enough interest to do a tournament, but I would love to, and using a 4 game rotation, it would be coming around in January. Maybe we could do a tournament at the close of the campaign (or to open if the campaign release is delayed). Shane - I know Dave at Battlefront wants us to host a big Tanksgiving game, but we don't have the space. I wish we could have a huge game, but it's not in the cards for us.

Arab-Israeli.... I heard Battlefront is not going to support Arab-Israeli product line in the future...
For Tanksgiving.... Just do Kursk out of Eastern Front (MW).... or Operation Goodwood (LW) and include some night fighting... At least most people will have some models....
For an Event type lets change it up.... How about Anzio or Cassino (Gustav Line) using Fortress Italy and Road to Rome?

What I mean is, we have room for everyone interested in the club, since we can do what we did for Bulge this year. What we can't do is hold a game big enough for all of us, plus a half dozen others from other clubs. To do that, we'd need a meeting hall big enough to run several tables end to end as one giant table.
I really hope that everyone will post their opinions soon, because time is ticking. I would guess we are sticking to tradition and holding it the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Dave has already requested that day off, since nobody has said otherwise.
We could do any era, but we need to figure that out. Soon.

Personally I'd prefer to do Arab-Israeli because as Kevin stated it's fairly well-balanced in terms of tank combat. Each side has advantages and disadvantages and we don't get to play the era that often. As for Armada it all depends on whether the campaign comes out before we want to hold a tournament or after but considering their General shipping practices will probably open with the tournament.
And I should be able to get either the weekend before or the weekend after off on The Saturdays.

I'll be there for some tanks on the Saturday after thanksgiving. As usual I'll have to proxy Arab tanks but no big deal.
My December has filled up fast with holiday Parties and other commitments so I can't promise I'll be able to run or participate in any club events that month.
In the interest of recruitment, I would be willing to run a beginners game regularly once a month starting in january and post it on the bf website and wwpd to see if we can get a new player or two? I'll talk with you about what days are good neXT time I make it into the store.

Is there still interest in doing a Midwar tournament in December before they release the redone Midwar books and Version 4? Or is there more interest in doing an X-wing tournament?

I'd love to do the Midwar, but I'm already committed through December. So I'm out no matter what. December 3rd, 4th - Model UN Conference December 10th, 11th - Doubles Tournament - The Portal - Manchester CT December 17 18 - Holiday party and my Wife's Birthday December 24th and 25th - Enough said.
I'd say go for Xwing and use some of those tournament packs.
I'm happy to run a Mid-war Tournament in January? If people want one? If that's kosher with people I'll post the list of dates now for January, and see when people are free?
